Creating a fun, satisfying and safe environment for your cat doesn’t have to cost a small fortune or take up hours of your time.

In fact, with a little cat-centered thinking, you can easily retrofit your home to make it a wonderful place for cats.

Cats need to be able to scratch, so why not save the paws on your furniture by wrapping them in sisal?

It’s a simple and inexpensive way to allow your cat to scratch while making sure she doesn’t destroy these precious objects.

2. Make A Treat Toy

There are luxury cat toys on the market, but you can also quickly make a home version by cutting and pasting household items such as egg cartons, toilet paper rolls and Tupperware.

Don’t forget to make holes big enough for your cat’s paw to pass through.

3. Clear Shelves To Create Levels

Cats love to climb, so take a moment to examine existing furniture and see if you can create steps your kitten can climb safely to find a satisfactory foothold.

Sometimes all it takes is a little space on the edge of a piece of furniture for cats to perch.
