We all have that one drawer in our homes affectionately referred to as “the junk drawer.” In this drawer, you will find miscellaneous odds and ends like mail, paperclips, loose change, random gadgets, and of course, loose batteries. So if you’re on the hunt for a battery and are unsure whether the ones in your junk drawer are dead or still good, you need to know about this hack.
All you have to do is take the battery and drop it upright (from a short distance) onto a hard, flat surface. A battery that’s still good will not bounce. Instead, it will land with a thump and usually stay upright. When dropped, a bad battery will bounce several times before generally falling over onto its side. This hack will work with all kinds of alkaline batteries, and it never fails!
