New furniture is certainly not cheap. So when you buy a new piece of furniture, you try to keep it as long as possible. But wear and tear is inevitable. Instead of replacing furniture when it starts to wear out, you can give it new life with these great tips!

1. Walnuts For Scratches

This might sound odd, but rubbing a peeled walnut over small scratches on wood furniture will actually get rid of them. After you rub the wood with the walnut a few times, use a clean rag to buff the area smooth.

2. Liquid Leather

If you have a leather chair or sofa that’s riddled with cracks, all you need is some liquid leather! This product works to fill in dents and cracks, making your leather look new again.

3. Olive Oil

An alternative to liquid leather? Olive oil. Use a cloth to massage some olive oil into your cracked leather furniture. Let it sit, then use another clean cloth to wipe off the residue. This method usually only works for smaller cracks and you should always test any solution on an inconspicuous area first.

4. Mayonnaise

I learned this hack from my mother years ago. When your wooden table gets covered in those white rings from heat or water stains, apply mayonnaise to them before covering with plastic wrap. Let it sit overnight, then wipe off the mayonnaise in the morning.

5. Lemon Juice

If you have metal furniture that’s beginning to rust (such as outdoor patio furniture), douse the area with lemon juice. Let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub at it a bit before rinsing.

6. Chalk Paint

If you have wood furniture that’s beyond saving or just needs some revamping, cover it with chalkboard paint! This matte paint goes on quite easily and gives off a rustic-chic vibe.

7. Olive Oil And Distilled Vinegar

If you have a piece of wood furniture that has a bit of wear, mix together 1/4 cup of olive oil and 3/4 cup of distilled vinegar. Use some cheesecloth to wipe the solution onto the wood.

8. Baking Soda

This tip is for stinky furniture! To remove unpleasant odors from furniture fabric, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda onto it. Let it sit overnight, then vacuum up the baking soda in the morning.
