Most of us have lived in a shoebox apartment at some point in our lives. I’ve lived in a small apartment for my entire college experience, and I can’t say I particularly miss it! However, some people really know how to make the most of living in a small apartment, and Charlotte Brown is definitely one of those people.

Charlotte is a photographer and illustrator who lives in a 300-square-foot apartment in New York City’s Upper West Side. It’s safe to say that Charlotte has expensive taste on a shoestring budget. And yet, she was able to transform this one-room apartment into three separate spaces that exude charm, class, and coziness.

It was important to Charlotte that she have a bedroom space, living room space, and kitchen space. She saved up money for each and every piece of furniture she has in her apartment, with the showcase piece being her luxurious headboard and bed. She also bought a mobile kitchen island to separate the kitchen area from the rest of the room, as well as provide her with some storage space.

Another example of Charlotte’s creativity lies in the kitchen backsplash. She bought a $5 sheet of wrapping paper and used some Mod Podge glue to fasten it to the existing area. Surprisingly enough, Charlotte has fit 13 people in her tiny apartment! Her landlady loves what she’s done with the space, and doesn’t ever want her to leave! Through smart use of space and creative touches, Charlotte really has made the most of this tiny yet charming apartment.
