Shilajit (also known as mumijo) is a sticky thick substance with a color that ranges from white to dark brown. Shilajit can be found mainly in the Karakoram, Himalaya, Altai mountains, Tibet mountains, Gilgit Baltistan mountains, and Caucasus mountains. Shilajit is used in the traditional Indian, Ayurveda, and Unani medicine system because its consumption improves health and boosts energy.

The origin of this practice is believed to start in the Himalayan villages when villagers noticed that monkey bands migrate into upper elevations during warm months and seasons to ingest shilajit from cliff crevices. The surprise was that monkeys that had this habit were larger and stronger than the other that didn’t ingest shilajit. Since then the villagers started harvesting shilajit for their own and proper uses.

Of course, there are other stories and theories about the origin of the shilajit consumption practice, but that’s not the point. The purpose of this article is why shilajit makes people work harder for longer periods of time without fatigue, exhaustion, and pain, and why it improves the quality of life and prosperity of the Himalayan villagers.

To answer that question, we have to go back to shilajit itself and take a deeper look at it. Shilajit is rich in minerals up to an outstandingly high standard, it actually has between 40 to 85 minerals plus amino acids and fulvic acid that can increase nutrient absorption and increase energy for cells all over the body. Furthermore, shilajit can have even more outstanding effects if your lifestyle and diet are healthy and balanced.
