My first two cars both had cloth seats, and let me tell you – I did not take care of them. Between myself, other passengers, and my dog, the seats were constantly covered in stains and other unsightly marks. I’m sure many of you with cloth seats in your car also struggle to keep them clean (especially if you have kids!). Well, if that’s the case, you’re in luck. I just stumbled across a car cleaning hack that will take your car seats from stained to sparkling clean!

Facebook user Anna Lakin explained that she had recently taken her car on a camping trip, and the seats ended up with a whole bunch of stains by the end of the weekend. Anna had seen a similar hack somewhere, so decided to try it.

She took some scented shaving cream, rubbed it all over her car’s seats, then scrubbed them with a sponge and warm water. She then removed the filter from her vacuum, sucked up the excess water, and let the seats air dry.

The end result was superbly clean seats that show no evidence of the stains. While getting your car detailed is always an option, it tends to be extremely expensive. So, why not buy a can of shaving cream and see what you can accomplish yourself for just a few bucks and a bit of elbow grease?

If you’re worried about discoloration, it’s always a good idea to spot test an inconspicuous part of the seat before applying shaving cream to a bigger area.
