I can safely say that I rely on a frozen bag of peas or carrots when I’m in need of an instant ice pack. It feels like my kids are always getting hurt, and if it’s not them, it’s my husband or I! Although a bag of frozen veggies works well enough, this instant ice pack makes for a far more effective version.

To make a homemade ice pack, Bev from The Make Your Own Zone suggests mixing together 1 1/2 cups of water and 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol. Seal in a Ziploc bag and place in the freezer for a few hours. The solution will get extremely cold, but it never completely hardens. This means that you can manipulate the solution, making it more mouldable to the area of your body you want to ice.

If you’re an athlete, avid exerciser, parent to injury-prone children, or a clumsy adult (like me), hopefully this instant ice pack remedy will be able to help you out in the future! Once you make this ice pack once, simply store it in the freezer for the next time you’ll inevitably need it.
