“Legend has it that this cake turns out most delicious with morello cherries from the garden, but if bought from the market, it will still turn out great”
INGREDIENTS
- morello cherries – 10.5 oz (300 g)
- butter – 4.4 oz (125 g)
- sugar – 1 cup
- eggs – 3 pcs.
- milk – 1/2 cup
- flour – 2 cups
- baking powder – 2 tsp (10 g) or 1 sachet
- vanilla – 2 pcs.
- powdered sugar – for sprinkling
HOW TO COOK
In a bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar, until a creamy mixture is obtained. The eggs are added to them one by one.
After the eggs, pour the milk ino a thin stream. The mixture is stirred and add the sifted flour into portions along with the baking powder and vanilla. Stir, until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, which is transferred into a greased and floured baking pan.
The morello cherries are pitted in advance, rolled in flour and arranged in the baking pan.
The cake is baked in a preheated oven at 360°F (180°C).
The readiness of the morello cherry cake is checked with a toothpick. It is ready, if the toothpick comes out dry.
Once cool, the morello cherry cake is sprinkled with powdered sugar.
