Reddit user @FederalAnt9 decided to share his divorce story and how he turned this stressful experience into a funny story that received 50,2,000 upvotes online.
Divorce can be a sensitive and tricky process, especially when people can’t seem to find a way to leave it all on good terms
The user said that when they were still married, he and his wife talked about how rich people hide their assets to avoid paying taxes. Little did he know that the things they talked about would later come back to him in the worst form. When they decided to separate, the wife decided to set the world on fire by claiming that her husband was laundering money. His lawyer, of course, took it seriously.
But the ex-husband, being persistent himself too, decided to teach the lawyer by doing what was asked in the most hilarious way
As a result, the woman’s lawyer decided to ask the soon-to-be ex-husband to file his tax return for the last three years. In his story, the user also told that he did not have much money at the time because he was just starting his own business and that he had other financial obligations. For this reason, he decided to represent himself in the divorce case.
His complicated situation did not convince the lawyer that he was actually just a man who wanted to divorce his wife and that he had not done anything illegal. He even insulted the husband when he tried to explain the whole situation and why it was too difficult for him to produce all the necessary documents. The user stated that he was provoked by the lawyer’s statement, “Well, according to your income statements, you are not that busy. What do you do all day?” The husband then decided to teach the lawyer a lesson.

So the two men agreed that the documents should be sent by fax. The husband didn’t hold back and did as he was told – he sent all the invoices, all the bank statements, all the card statements, all the orders, and even the irrelevant receipts and vouchers he had for those three years. He even added cover sheets and divider sheets. In total, over 150 PDF pages were faxed. The only problem was that the system kept crashing and could not send the documents. However, the man was determined enough to change the settings on the machine to try to send the documents again until they reached the recipient.
This all resulted in asking the man to stop sending documents as the lawyer’s machine kept sticking and getting paper jams. The man was clever enough to then ask him in writing to confirm that they didn’t need these documents any longer. Once the man got what he was asked for, the lawyer never threatened him again. This way, the man proved that you can prove your innocence in a smart and funny way.
