When you look for DIY hacks online, the first thing that will pop up is using WD-40 to fix the scratches on your car. But we don’t recommend using that home remedy for your scratches. WD-40 will work like it’s working, but all that’s going to do is clean up the scratches, it will get the dirt and everything else that was ground into your paint out, but it’s not going to fix the scratch.

WD-40 will also damage the wax and clear out the coat that your paint job has. Also, considering how oily WD-40 is. So when it rains and or when you wash your car, it will wash away and fade immediately.

WD-40 is like Pledge for wood. It creates a big shine on your wood surfaces but after some days, your wood will look dull just like before. That’s what WD-40 does, it makes everything look shiny and new, but it fades after a few days.

If you have scratches on your car, the best thing you can do is determine if they’re deep enough to take it to a professional, or if they can be buffered out.

If your car scratches aren’t deep enough to get a new paint job, you can get some polishing compound and a drill with a buffing wheel on it. Wash your car to leave the affected area clean, then apply some polishing compound on the buffing wheel and go over the scratches.

This will help you get rid of the scratches on your car, but we recommend talking to an auto body shop to know if your car needs professional help or if you can fix it at home.
