The bathroom is a private room in the house, but today we are going to talk about it. Everyone has different bathroom habits, but some of them could unknowingly put you at risk of getting sick. Here are 12 common but gross mistakes that could happen in your own bathroom that you should stop making as soon as possible.
1- Not putting the lid down
Get in the habit of putting the toilet lid down before flushing. When you flush, water and other bacteria can fly up to ten feet into the air. Say no more.

2-Tossing wipes
You should never flush baby wipes, makeup remover wipes or other wipes down the toilet. They are not designed to decompose and can easily clog a scrubber.

3- Keep your toothbrush near the toilet.
Germs and bacteria in and around the toilet can easily get on the toothbrush. Store it in a clean, dry place as far away from the toilet as possible.

4- Don’t hang up the bath mat
If you don’t hang up the bath mat after bathing or showering, it has no chance of drying completely. A constantly wet bath mat is a breeding ground for bacteria, so always hang it up to dry and wash it regularly.

5 – Don’t rinse soap
Since soaps are constantly wet, they can accumulate a lot of bacteria. Rinse it with lukewarm water before and after each use and store the soap in a clean, dry place so the water can run off.

6- Take a shower with boiling water
There’s nothing better than a steaming hot shower, especially in the colder months. However, if you shower with water that is too hot, your skin, hair and scalp will lose their natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation.

7- Using cotton swabs
Most of us grew up thinking that cotton swabs were used to clean our ears. However, cotton swabs only push earwax further into the ear canal. If you want to have your ears cleaned, consult your doctor.

8- Using facial wipes
If you wash your face with a wipe, you are doing the exact opposite of cleaning. Facial wipes are the perfect breeding ground for bacteria because of the moisture they contain. To clean your face properly, apply a facial cleanser with your hands before rinsing your face with water.

9- Forget about moisturizers
During the cold and dry months, it is very important to moisturize your skin, especially after showering. Lack of hydration leads to dry skin, itching, flaking and general irritation.

10- Holding on to your toothbrush
Most of us probably don’t think much about replacing toothbrushes, but you really should buy a new one every three months and every time you get sick.

11- Unreplaced razors
The same goes for disposable razors. Shaving with old, dull razors can lead to cuts and infections. You should replace disposable razors after five to ten shaves.

12- Do not wash towels
You probably think that the towels you dry yourself with after a shower are clean and don’t need to be washed that often. However, to make sure that bacteria do not lodge in them, towels should be cleaned after every third use.
