When it comes to household chores, dusting, sweeping and mopping are simple tasks. But if you want your home to be as clean as possible, sometimes you need to think outside the box. The following tips will help you get your home spotless from top to bottom.

  1. Polishing Porcelain

If you have a porcelain bathroom or kitchen sink, sprinkle baking soda on the surface. Pour hydrogen peroxide over the baking soda, scrub well, and rinse well.

  1. Broom cleaning

If you clean with a broom, clean and disinfect it from time to time. Fill a mop bucket with hot water and detergent and soak the broom for 20 minutes. Then let it dry naturally.

  1. Deodorize furniture

If you find odors on fabric chairs and sofas, sprinkle baking soda liberally; leave it on for an hour before vacuuming.

  1. Disinfect wooden cutting boards

Wooden cutting boards are porous and can easily absorb bacteria. To disinfect a wooden cutting board, sprinkle coarse salt on it, then rub salt on it with half a lemon. Then rinse with water.

  1. Clean stainless steel sink

For stainless steel sinks, make a paste with water and baking soda, then scrub around the sink. After rinsing with water, dry well. Sprinkle flour on the sink and wipe the surface with a clean, dry cloth. When finished, use a vacuum cleaner to remove the flour.

  1. Clean leather furniture

If there are scratches on leather furniture, rub a small amount of olive oil on a cloth and rub it into the scratches; after an hour, wipe off the oil with a clean, dry cloth.

  1. Repair heat and water stains on wood

Do you sometimes leave white stains on wood from cups and dishes? Apply mayonnaise to the stain and cover it with plastic wrap. Leave it overnight and wipe it off in the morning.

  1. Lampshades

To remove dust and hair from a fabric lampshade, wipe it with a lint roller.

  1. Unclog the shower head

If the water flow from the shower head is slow, fill a plastic bag with vinegar and secure it around the shower head with an elastic band. Leave it overnight, then remove the bag.

  1. Remove water drips from the toilet brush

To prevent water from dripping onto the floor, place the toilet brush between the toilet seat and the toilet after cleaning and allow the brush to dry with the water droplets.

  1. Disinfect the toilet brush

The toilet brush can be kept clean by putting disinfectant on the toilet brush holder.

  1. Clean the vent cover

To clean the vent cover, give it a quick wipe down before putting it in the dishwasher. Wash in warm water (no detergent) and dry completely before loading back in.

  1. Shine the baseboard

Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser is ideal for dirty or scratched baseboards

  1. Clean the microwave oven

To clean and disinfect the microwave, place water and half a lemon in a small bowl. Heat in the microwave for about 2-3 minutes, then leave the bowl for about 5 minutes. When the time is up, remove the bowl. The steam will loosen any dirt and debris, making it easy to wipe off.
