Dissolve battery corrosion
The alkaline properties of baking soda can be used to neutralize and dissolve acidic corrosion on batteries. Make sure all batteries are disconnected from the device (removed from terminals and connecting cables). Mix 3 parts baking soda and 1 part water to form a paste. Apply the paste and wipe with a damp cloth. Allow the battery to dry completely before reconnecting to the device or terminal.
Control oily scalp.
If you are prone to oily shine due to excessive sebaceous gland production, consider replacing the chemicals in commercial shampoos with the natural chemicals in baking soda. When mixed with water (4 tablespoons and 3/4 cup of water, plus your choice of essential oils), this soft powder exfoliates the scalp, absorbs excess oil, and leaves your hair completely clean. (It is a gentle natural abrasive, perfect for oily hair types). If used on dry hair, it will dry it out more). Apply to the entire hair, starting at the roots; leave on for 1-3 minutes, rinse out and condition and style as usual.
Make deodorant.
The deodorizing power of baking soda is not only good for your home, but for your body as well. Make a deodorant by mixing 4 tablespoons of baking soda (deodorizing) with 4 tablespoons of cornstarch (absorbing moisture). Add 4-6 tablespoons of coconut oil or shea butter and essential oils to taste. If you have a spare (empty) deodorant tube, you can use it to slip in. (Too much coconut oil may cause the deodorant to melt in the warmer months, but if you keep it in the fridge, this is not a problem).
