Did you remember them all?

Let’s recap to make sure you know all the winter tips you need!

Our first tip is a classic: waterproof your shoes! Simply rub them with a candle, then blow dry them.

2- You have to use a shovel and you get stuck with snow? Prevent this problem by spraying your shovel with non-stick cooking spray first!

3- Heating bill is too high? Turn to your oven. While, no, you should never try to heat your home with your oven, you can use the residual heat after cooking something. After you turn off the oven, leave it open while its temperature drops to take advantage of the residual heat.

4-There is perhaps no greater battle in winter than the office thermostat. Even if you and your co-workers agree, the building management often has the thermostat locked up – which means you have to fool it! Just place a bag of ice cubes on the thermostat and it will turn on and add some heat.

5-Want an easy way to fight the common cold? Make your own Vicks Vapor Rub shower spray by mixing the product with baking soda and cornstarch.

6-Prevent air from escaping through the gaps under your doors by using simple pipe insulators. If you can’t find any, pool noodles work too!

7-What about the small gaps on the sides of doors and windows? Fill them with play dough!

8-Do you want hand warmers? Don’t waste a lot of money. Make your own by filling small socks with rice and microwaving them!

9-Do you want your bed to be warm as soon as you get into it? Just run a hair dryer through the gaps between the covers, sheets and mattress before you crawl in!
