When the warm weather starts to take over the cold winter weather, we can’t wait to trade in our boots and galoshes for strappy sandals and flip flops. We’re ready to let our feet breathe! There’s just one problem: after spending months cooped up in layers of clothing and walking in the snow, our feet aren’t quite ready for their start in the season. In fact, they tend to look… pretty rough, in every sense of the word.
Before we slip on those sandals, they’re going to need a little pampering, and rather than turning to a spa for an expensive pedicure, we’ve found a more frugal solution, and it’s hiding in your medicine cabinet: Listerine.
Yes, Listerine! As Yahoo explains, the combination of benzoic acid and ethanol in the mouthwash makes it an ideal product for washing your feet, helping you remove dry, dead skin and killing the bacteria, fungi and germs that cause athlete’s foot. Plus, the tingling feels great!
But don’t just pour Listerine into a bucket and dip your feet in. Here’s how you do it:
You’ll Need
– 1 cup Listerine (or your favorite antiseptic mouthwash)
– 1 cup white or apple cider vinegar
– 2 cups warm water
How To
- Mix the ingredients together in a foot tub.
- Soak your feet for an hour, then admire your soft skin!
That’s it! And, yes, your feet might come away from the soak looking a little blue, but it’s a temporary effect that will definitely fade away, no trouble.

Do you think you’ll give it a try once it’s time to wear those warm-weather shoes?
