1- Use a food processor
When you need a shortcut, but don’t want to use a store-bought crust, use your food processor to blend your ingredients faster.
2- Baking with weights
Cover the dough with greaseproof paper or a coffee filter, then place dry rice or beans on top. This will prevent the dough from turning to mush.
3- Add a Braid
Everyone knows how to braid, but for some reason when it’s done with pie crust it’s so much more impressive, no?
4- Use Wax Paper
Who has time for cleanup? Use wax paper instead of a floured surface when rolling out a pie crust to make your life so much easier.
5- Pile Crusts High
There’s no denying the crust is the best part, so why not add ruffled edges that look pretty and add double the crust on your pie.
6- Protect Your Edges
For the golden brown crust, cut the bottom of a disposable pie plate out and put it on top of your pie about halfway through the baking process.
7- Layer Hearts on Top
All you need is a cookie cutter to make this loving pie crust. To make the shapes look like they get bigger as you get closer to the edge, look to your rolling pin.
8- Make a Herringbone Lattice
Now, if you really want to take your skills to the next level, try this pattern. It follows the same basic principle of as your usual lattice crust, but in multiples of three.
