Can ice cream improve your mental performance?

According to a Japanese website, ice cream can be one of the greatest joys you can provide to your body in the morning time because a study conducted by professor Yoshihiko Koga of Kyorin University suggests that ice cream consumption can have a positive impact on mental performance and alertness.

The professor compared the brain activity of several test subjects who took ice cream right after waking up with the ones who did not take it. Results have shown that the ones who had ice cream for breakfast had less mental irritation and faster reaction times.

All of this seems cool and pleasing. Or is it? Well before you start eating ice cream every morning and making this habit a mourning routine, there are a few things you have to know.

The first thing that you have to know is that the study was supported by a sweets company (you can think about how biased the study is). You should also know that the website does not include any links to the study whatsoever, which makes things a little more skeptical.

Furthermore, homemade ice cream has sugar, heavy cream, egg yolks, and whole milk as ingredients, whereas traditionally bought ice creams have other ingredients like corn syrup, soybean oil, and pectin.
