Beets are usually used as food colorers. Most people underestimate beets all over the world not knowing that they contain a good amount of iodine and iron, and most people do not know that the vegetable can treat thyroid-related disorders and anemia.

On the other hand, beets can be added to desserts, salads, and soups, and they can add a whole new tasteful flavor.

A few beets properties that I think you should know about.

Beets have many properties, that is why I am going to inform you about the ones I think are the most important ones.

Beets can prevent cognitive decline and can strengthen capillary walls because they contain a lot of vitamins such as B-complex vitamins. Furthermore, beets can prevent and reverse oxidative damage and prevent cardiovascular disease because they are rich in betalains and polyphenols.

Beets contain folate, potassium, and other minerals that can promote heart health. Furthermore, the vegetable contains phosphorus, iron, copper, iodine, and magnesium, that is why it can help the body produce thyroid hormones, increase energy, help you get healthy bones, and destroy free radicals. Beets also contain cobalt that helps intestinal bacteria form vitamin B12 that can form new red blood cells. Furthermore, beets are full of fiber, and that is why they can improve gut flor and digestion.

Folic acid can revitalize the body because it helps it create new cells, and where can we find folic acid? You’re right, in beets.

If you’re impressed already, wait until you read the following properties.

Beets can prevent cancer cells growth and can help the body get rid of all the toxins out of its system because the vegetable contains betacyanins and betanin. Also, beets have high nitrate concentration, that is why they can prevent dementia and improve blood flow. And last but not least, beets contain pectin more than apples and carrots, and if you’re wondering what pectin does, let me explain; pectin removes harmful bacteria from the digestive tract and absorbs metals from the body.

These were only a few beets properties that I found worth mentioning, but there are way more benefits hidden in the underappreciated vegetable. It can surely work wonders because it can boost metabolism, reduce blood pressure, improve liver function, and lower cholesterol. Impressed?
