I use garlic in just about everything. Not only does this natural bulb add a touch of flavour to many dishes, but it also has many health benefits. If you eat garlic as quickly as my family does, you might consider growing it yourself. You don’t need a vegetable garden or a green thumb to grow garlic. You can grow garlic quickly and easily in the comfort of your own home.
First of all, it should be noted that this method will not provide you with the garlic bulbs you buy in the grocery shop. It will provide you with garlic leaves, which grow on top of the bulb. These leaves have a more subtle flavour than traditional garlic, but they are no less delicious and add flavour to a wide variety of dishes.
To grow your own green garlic, simply plant a few garlic bulbs in a pot filled with potting soil. Place the pot in a sunny spot and water lightly. The garlic leaves will start to grow quite quickly and should be ready to be cut and used within seven to ten days. Once the bulbs have grown leaves, they are finished and should be replaced if you want to grow more.
If you want to grow traditional garlic bulbs, you need to grow them outside. The garlic needs the winter dormancy period in order to produce the flower and begin generating the garlic head.
