If you live in a place where the winters are cold and snowy, you can be like me and have mixed feelings about the season. I think the snow is beautiful, especially during the vacations, and I like certain outdoor activities like skiing and snowshoeing. However, one thing I could definitely do without in the winter is sidewalks, steps, and icy, slippery driveways.

I can’t tell you how many times I ended up slipping on the steps of my house or falling on the sidewalk in front of our house while walking the dog. I don’t like to buy melted ice cream in the store because it is full of strong chemicals and not at all friendly to pets or wildlife. Fortunately, there is a version of “do-it-yourself” that is cheap and safe for people and animals.

WYFF News 4 has created a three ingredient melted ice cream that is super efficient and super cheap to make. Just mix half a gallon of hot water, six drops of dishwashing liquid (Blue Dawn works well) and two ounces of rubbing alcohol. Once the ingredients are mixed, simply pour the solution over the frozen exterior surfaces and the ice will melt.
