How to make your kitchen look clean when you are too lazy to really clean it

I’m one of those people whose stress level is directly related to the mess in my flat, especially in the kitchen (because that’s where the most clutter is). But I’d also rather watch Parks & Rec than clean. So I decided to try the S.O.S.D. method and see if it strikes a balance between cleanliness and speed.

S.O.S.D. represents the different areas of your kitchen that you need to focus on for a quick clean: surfaces, oven, sweeping (floors) and dishes. I liked this idea, as what bothers me most is the crumbs on the floor, counters and dishes that accumulate (I am so grateful for my dishwasher). I’ve ignored the S.O.S.D. order though, as I prefer to put things away on the counter first, then wipe the surfaces and sweep the floor, rather than cleaning the surfaces before moving on. But do what works for you.

Once I changed the order of things and concentrated on cleaning the counters, removing the dishes and getting rid of the crumbs, it only took fifteen minutes and I had the rest of the night to relax. Sure, my kitchen isn’t as clean as it could be with this method, but it’s clean enough.
