Vicks VapoRub is a mentholated topical ointment that is mainly used on the chest, back and throat to suppress coughs and relieve minor muscle and joints’ aches and pains. However, the Vaporub product can be used to lose weight using the wrapping technique. Wrap therapy uses Vicks Vaporub to tighten your skin and help you lose weight (this therapy is used in many spas).
If you can’t afford to go to a spa to do wrap therapy, then you can do it at home using Vicks VapoRub and plastic wrap. The process is quite simple, you only have to follow the steps carefully.
1. Weight Loss
Vicks VapoRub contains camphor, a compound that can encourage fat burning in specific body areas. But you have to know that using plastic and Vicks makes the body sweat and lose its water mass, thus losing some weight (it causes water loss, not fat loss). This method is very helpful if you have a date or an important event coming up and you have to fit in your favorite dress because the weight loss lasts only a day or two (consuming water compensates the lost water mass).
Susie Ellis the president of Spa Finder said: “I look at those slimming wraps like a spray tan,”, and she added: “It’s temporary, but sometimes that’s OK.” However, you should keep hydrating yourself because this technique makes you lose water weight.
2. Cellulite Reduction
If you want to moisturize your skin and reduce the cellulite’s appearance, make sure to mix rubbing alcohol with Vicks VapoRub and baking.
3. Stretch Mark Reduction
Vicks VapoRub contains a variety of oils that can reduce and minimize stretch marks’ appearance. Don’t expect wonders, because this can only reduce the dry appearance of stretch marks that makes them noticeable and make the stretched skin feel soft and smooth. Until this very day, there are no products or creams that can make stretch marks disappear entirely.
