I love getting fresh flowers for our home, but it’s always a sad feeling when the arrangement wilts beyond saving. I feel like roses always wilt the quickest, which is a shame because they are one of my absolute favorite flowers. Fortunately, there’s an excellent hack for bringing new life to your wilted roses – so don’t you dare throw them away when they start to look beyond saving!
Velvet Counts shared these genius tips on Facebook. She explains, “Cut the top of the rose off flat at the top just above one of the notches and cut the bottom at a slant. Remove all remaining leaves.
They should all look something like this after:
Next, gently scrape the ends. This will help with root growth.
Next, dip in water.
Dip the stems in plant growth hormone and tap off any excess.
Next, make a hole and carefully plant the stem without removing the growth hormone. Gently press the soil around it.
Spray with water until saturated.
After about a week, she started seeing growth! She now has many rose bushes she can transfer to her garden this spring.
Look at that growth!
Look at all of those plants!
And there you have it! Why pay for rose bushes when you can simply use a wilted rose arrangement, and give them new life? Thanks for sharing this expert gardening tip, Velvet Counts! I will definitely be trying this out.
