No matter the season, fruit flies always seem to find their way into our homes. These annoying pests come up the drain and buzz around looking for food or something sticky. If you’re tired of seeing fruit flies in your home, check out these quick, easy and inexpensive solutions.

1. Red Wine

Fruit flies are attracted to liquids that are a combination of sweet and acidic. When you finish a bottle of red wine, leave a tiny amount in the bottom of the bottle. Leave the bottle out overnight and fruit flies will get trapped in it.

2. Lemon

Cut a slice from a lemon, then squeeze the juice into a small bowl or container. Place the remaining lemon slice in the bowl as well, then cover the top with saran wrap. Poke small holes in the saran wrap and you’ve got yourself another fruit fly trap.

3. Beer And Banana

Many people swear by this method. Let a banana go almost rotten, then cut a slice from it (peel included) and place it in a large jar. Splash some beer over the banana, then cover with saran wrap and poke holes in the top as with #1 and #3.

4. Sugar Solution

Dissolve some sugar in either warm water or warmed milk, then leave the solution out in a bowl or saucer. The fruit flies will be attracted to the scent but will drown in the solution.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar And Dish Soap

Fill a shallow bowl or container with a splash of apple cider vinegar, then add in a couple drops of liquid dish soap. Place a piece of saran wrap over the bowl, then poke small holes in it. The fruit flies will make their way inside but will be unable to climb back out.
