  1. Use of Epsom salt
To feed your orchids with a magnesium-rich diet, mix one teaspoon of Epsom salt in two liters of water. Soak the orchid roots in the solution for 10 to 20 minutes. You can do this once every 3-4 months.

Note: Avoid using scented Epsom salts sold for body washes or spas; instead, use those sold in the gardening section of do-it-yourself and hardware stores.

  1. Molasses
Mix two teaspoons of molasses in a gallon of water and use it to water your plants. This will give orchids a much needed dose of potassium. It is commonly used in horticulture and helps with flowering.
  1. Cow’s milk
Cow’s milk is excellent for fighting fungal diseases, to which orchids are prone. Dilute 1 part milk in 4 parts water and use it on your plants once every 2 to 4 weeks. It is an excellent source of calcium and nitrogenous proteins which contribute to the general health of the plant.

Tip of the pro: Rinse the used milk carton with water and use it on your orchids.
