Arthritis is an inflammation that happens in one or multiple joints of the body. Statistics have shown that 1 in 2 people develop symptomatic knee osteoarthritis when the person reaches the age of 85. And in the United States alone, 52.5 million adults have a form of arthritis, and the shocking news is that this number was only between 2010 and 2012. Arthritis does not know the age, it just strikes. But you can use some natural methods to ease the pain caused by arthritis. Targeting the joints (the source of pain) and reducing inflammation can help you deal with arthritis or even treat it.
1. Ginger.
Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory agent that can actually reduce joint pain. This plant can even work better than some pain relievers leading to better results. Simply drink four cups of ginger every day and try to add it to your diet for better results.
2. Nuts and Beans.
Magnesium is a necessary compound when it comes to mineralizing bones and dealing with pain. In other words, magnesium is imperative when it comes to strong bones. Try to include foods that contain magnesium to your diet like nuts, beans, and spinach. If you don’t like the taste of any of the mentioned foods, try taking a magnesium supplement or apply magnesium oil directly to the joints.
3. Morning bath.
You can loosen off stiffness that you feel in your joints by taking a nice warm bath in the morning before engaging your daily routines. Also, try to use a heating pad during the night when you are asleep to reduce stiffness.
4. Turmeric.
Turmeric contains curcumin, a chemical compound that can reduce arthritic inflammation. You can use turmeric by either making a turmeric tea or use it as a spice for your daily meals.
5. Olive oil.
Olive oil can play the role of an anti-inflammatory substance because of the enzymes that it contains. They actually work the same way as ibuprofen. Incorporate olive oil in your daily diet or massage it into the joints two times a day.
6. Eat more fish.
Fish contains omega-3 fatty acids that can actually deal with joint pain and stiffness. Salmon, tuna, herring, and mackerel are all fish types that contain omega-3 fatty acids and can help you relieve some joint pain. If you don’t want to take fish or if you are allergic to it, try to take a fish oil supplement.
7. Wear gloves to bed.
This may seem weird, but wearing gloves before going to sleep can actually prevent your hands from swelling and getting stiff in the morning. As for your elbows and knees, use a scarf to wrap them and you are good to go.
8. Get more citrus.
Drinking orange juice or simply consuming a lot of vitamin C can help you prevent osteoarthritis from ever happening because vitamin C is a very powerful antioxidant that fights cartilage-damaging free radials. You can consume vitamin C by drinking orange juice as mentioned before, eating a lot of oranges, or why not both.
Use any method that you like to deal with painful arthritis and make sure to go see a doctor of symptoms starts showing progression.
