6.in the compost
If you put newspaper in the compost, it will soften. Odors can come from your garbage can in the heat, and the carbon in the newspaper will help reduce them.

  1. Catching pests
Nocturnal garden pests are attracted to wet newspaper. Lay out the newspapers in the garden at dusk and make sure there is a small stone to keep them from flying away. Small animals, such as slugs, hide under them when the sun rises. In the morning, just pick up the leftover newspaper to get rid of them.
  2. Tool maintenance
Tools are sensitive to moisture and therefore to rust. Dry them well after use with newspaper, which will absorb the moisture and remove the dirt. You can also wrap your tools individually and store them in a sandbox during the winter.
  3. feeding with vermicompost
Earthworms feed on wet newspaper. This is done by shredding the newspaper and moistening it to make a kind of slurry. Then mix it with the food waste in your vermicompost.
