This recipe combines tender biscuit pieces, savory sausage, rich cheese, and creamy gravy into a satisfying meal that’s perfect for any time of day. With a quick prep time and simple ingredients, it’s an easy way to elevate your breakfast game and indulge in a truly comforting dish.

Ingredients :

  • 1 package Biscuits (8-count, such as Pillsbury)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 package Peppered Gravy Mix (2.3 oz package)
  • 1 lb sausage (mild or your preferred flavor)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions :

  1. Preheat and Prepare
Begin by greasing a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking.
  2. Cook the Sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until it’s thoroughly browned and no longer pink, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks. Once done, drain any excess grease to keep the casserole from becoming too oily.
  3. Prepare the Biscuits
Cut each biscuit into small pieces, about four chunks per biscuit. These chunks will form the base layer of your casserole, providing a hearty foundation.
  4. Layer the Ingredients
Arrange the biscuit pieces evenly across the bottom of your prepared baking dish. This will create a base layer that soaks up the flavors as the casserole bakes.
  5. Add Sausage and Cheese
Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the biscuit pieces. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage, adding a delicious layer of gooey, melted cheese.
  6. Mix and Pour the Egg Mixture
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Season with salt and pepper according to your taste preferences. Pour this egg mixture evenly over the cheese layer in the baking dish.
  7. Prepare the Gravy
Following the instructions on the gravy mix package, prepare the gravy. Once it’s ready, pour it gently over the egg mixture. The gravy will seep through the layers, creating a rich, flavorful sauce throughout the casserole.
  8. Bake
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. The casserole is done when the egg is set, and the biscuit pieces are cooked through. A golden-brown top is a good indicator that it’s ready.
  9. Serve and Enjoy
Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together and makes serving easier. Enjoy your Biscuits and Gravy Breakfast Casserole warm, straight from the oven!
