How do you open a plastic package if you don’t have scissors?

In this day and age, we have made some pretty amazing progress. Apart from the obvious things like mobile phones and computers, we will be adopting self-driving cars in the future, for heaven’s sake! But there’s just one problem that, for some strange reason, we haven’t been able to solve: plastic packaging.

You know what we’re talking about: You order a new kitchen gadget or toy by mail, and you can’t wait to open it and use it when it arrives at your house. But lo and behold, you raise an eyebrow when you take it out of the box and see that it arrived in a plastic package that not even the Hulk could open with his naked bands.

The packaging is so tightly sealed that there is no point in trying to open it with anything but a tool. But if you take a pair of scissors to cut it, it could create a sharp edge that could cut you. And if you try to use a knife, you will almost certainly slip and hurt yourself.

So what should you do? How do the manufacturers expect us to open the damn packages?

Finally, BuzzFeed has come to our rescue. In a video, they show us an easy trick for those impossible-to-open plastic packages. Ironically, they use the example of opening a pair of scissors from this packaging! But they don’t use scissors… they use something much more ingenious.

The video also offers useful tips for several other hard-to-open items, from pistachios to jars of nail polish to a simple shopping bag (all incredibly hard to open!), among others.
