Blueberries are one of the most delicious fruits on earth. They’re not only delicious, but they’re also considered superfoods. Blueberries are full of antioxidants and flavonoids like anthocyanins that offer many health benefits. Blueberries are also rich in components that are found to fight free radicals, promote heart health, and lessen the risk of heart attack, dementia, and hypertension.

Blueberries are also full of fiber and make an excellent healthy snack. You can eat them in many ways, add them to oatmeal, cereal, smoothies, salads, and many more. But they can get a little bit pricy in grocery stores. If you don’t like their price, you can grow your own blueberries in the comfort of your own home.

Daily Health Post said that if you want to grow your own blueberries, you should look for a variety that grows in pots, like “top hat” blueberries. Make sure to test the soil regularly to make sure that it stays between a 4.5 and 5.0 PH level. It’s also better to plant your blueberries in shallow wide pots instead of tall and narrow ones.

Directions for potting and growing your own blueberries:

Step 1: Fill the container two-thirds full with an acidic soil mix.

Step 2: Gently wiggle the plastic grower’s pot it came in to release the plant from its pot.

Step 3: Center the blueberry bush in the container, filling in the edges between the plant and the pot with more soil.

Step 4: Use your hands to apply firm pressure on the soil to prevent it from loosening up when you water your plant.

Step 5: Water well and add more soil if necessary. Do not “choke” the base of the bush with dirt.

Step 6: Spread 1 to 2 inches of acidic mulch like pine needles on top of the soil.

Step 7: Place in a sunny location with at least six hours of sun a day.

Step 8: Harvest your berries and enjoy!
