Repair tools that anyone can use around the house
Stop fan chains from tapping with tubes
Even though your ceiling fan is perfectly aligned and working just as it should, the pull of the fan can be enough to pull the chain against itself and make an irritating noise. Have no fear; you might not have to listen to it for much longer.
To stop the noise, simply cover the chains in the right sized plastic tubing. This can be found at many DIY stores or even pet stores, as many use it for their fish tanks. A simple addition could stop hours of frustration.
Silence water drips in gutters with rope
Perhaps it’s the noise of a dripping gutter that keeps you up at night? These little noises might not seem like much, but they can be pretty irritating once we have heard them. You may just need some rope to silence the noise.
Tie the rope to one end of your gutter and run it down the pipes. Now, the water will have something to follow rather than dripping. However, the rope does take up room in the gutter, so it’s best to use this hack with free-flowing pipes.
Unblock the sink with baking soda and vinegar
Do you remember those school projects where you had to make a working volcano? Hopefully, you remember all the tips as it could come in helpful when trying to unclog a sink when you don’t have a plunger around.
However, this time, you won’t need a paper volcano to match. Put between one and two tablespoons of baking soda into the pipe before you pour in the vinegar. It should soon start to rise and clear out any blockages in your sink.
