Pizza Dough:

  • 1 packet (0.25 oz) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 1/2–3 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for rolling

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 1/2 cups finely shredded mozzarella
  • 6 large, thin slices sweet ham
  • 1/2 cup marinara, plus more for dipping
  • 6 oz pepperoni
  • 1 egg, beaten

  1. In a small bowl, activate the yeast by mixing it with sugar and warm water. Wait for small bubbles to form on the surface, indicating its readiness.
  2. In a stand mixer, combine salt, yeast mixture, and olive oil using the dough hook. Gradually add flour until the dough pulls away from the sides.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 3-4 minutes, then divide it in half. Roll each half into a 10×13 rectangle.
  4. Melt butter and mix in basil, oregano, and garlic powder. Brush the pizza crust with this herb-infused butter.
  5. Sprinkle each crust with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, leaving a 1 1/2-inch border. Layer with ham, spread marinara, and add pepperoni.
  6. Roll the pizzas horizontally into logs, sealing the edges. Place seam side down on baking sheets.
  7. Brush with beaten egg, herb butter, and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella. Cut slits diagonally on top about 1 inch apart.
  8. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Slice along the slits and serve with extra marinara.
