The easiest way to know how much gas you have left in your tank when grilling

Trust us, you don’t want to be that host who invites all his friends and neighbors over for a barbecue… and runs out of gas in the grill before you even start eating. It’s embarrassing. Don’t let that happen to you! Before you know you’re going to barbecue, check your gas levels first. If you don’t have a gauge on your gas tank, that’s okay, you can still check your gas levels. Just follow this simple tip.

How simple is that?

To avoid the embarrassment of telling a hungry crowd (who you invited over for food) that there will be NO food, all you need is a cup of water.

We’re pretty sure you can scrounge that up.

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

STEP 1: Take a cup of water and pour it over the side of your gas tank.
STEP 2: Feel the grill with you hand, checking for warm and cold spots on the tank.

If you feel warm spots, that means there’s not gas inside. But if you feel any spots that are cool to the touch, you still have some gas to work with! Congratulations, now you’re really cooking with gas. (Sorry, couldn’t help it.)
