When someone asks me to do the “honour” of cutting a cake, my palms always start to sweat. Cutting a cake is not that easy, especially if it’s a big cake. You want to make sure you cut slices that are not too small, not too big, and all even. Luckily, we’re going to show you how to cut a large round cake so that all the pieces are equal in size.

We found out about this great tip via the Rachael Ray Show. All you have to do is get a small or medium size bowl (depending on the size of your cake), and gently place it on top of the cake, right in the middle. This will act as your guide. Remove the bowl and cut around the circle you’ve just made.

Now, you can cut slices around the edge of the cake. When these slices get eaten, you can then move onto the smaller cake in the center. Pretty smart, right? This is a trick commonly used by bakers and catering staff, as it allows you to cut a cake in the quickest, easiest, and most even way possible. You’ll definitely want to remember this trick the next time you’re tasked with serving cake to a large group of people.
