Many of us probably have some combination of cleaning products that we use for household chores. There aren’t many household chores that can’t be done with a combination of baking soda and distilled vinegar. I also have a bottle of distilled vinegar mixed with lemon juice and zest that I use to clean most surfaces around the house. And while combinations of these natural products are great, there are certain cleaning products that you should always avoid mixing together.

1. Bleach + Vinegar

The combination of bleach and vinegar produces chlorine gas, which can cause coughing, respiratory problems, burns and watery eyes.

2. Bleach + Ammonia

Bleach and ammonia produce a toxic gas called chloramine. It can cause shortness of breath and chest pain.

3. Bleach + Rubbing Alcohol

Bleach and rubbing alcohol create chloroform, which is highly toxic and extremely dangerous.

4. Hydrogen Peroxide + Vinegar

Although these two solutions are relatively natural, the combination of hydrogen peroxide and vinegar produces peracetic/peroxyacetic acid, which can be very corrosive.
