Swollen eyes can cause a little bit of frustration especially when you have an important event coming up the same morning. There are some ways that can be used to deal with this problem, but there is one remedy that stands out from the rest because it may already be in your kitchen, it is baking soda.

Baking soda is a miraculous product that can be used in cooking, cleaning, and several home remedies because of its incredible carbon, hydrogen, and sodium blend (baking soda offers 1 gram of sodium in a single teaspoon). When it comes to swollen eyes, the sodium in baking soda can help you reduce the swelling around the eyes simply because water follows sodium.

All you have to do is mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a shot glass of water or two tablespoons of water (the same amount of chamomile tea can do the job. Once done, soak two cotton balls in the blend and put them under your eyes, then start massaging the areas that have swellings for 2 minutes straight and let them sit for 10 to 15 minutes. When the time has passed rinse off the mixture with cool water, then use your lotion to moisturize.

If you wake up with swollen eyes, then it’s either because of sun exposure, allergies, dehydration, or fatigue. If you have any of the mentioned problems, then you should see a doctor to have proper diagnosis and treatments.
